EZbus Installation Instructions

This page contains specific instructions for installing the EZbus™ on Windows® ME, Windows® XP, Windows® 98 SE, Windows® 2000, and Apple Macintosh® systems. Please follow these instructions precisely to avoid problems with your computer operating system configuration.

Note: These instructions supercede those printed on pages 12 – 13 of the EZbus Installation and Quickstart Guide.

Windows® ME
Users must run the EZbus Installer as detailed below before connecting the EZbus to a computer via USB.

  • Prior to installing the Windows ME update, be certain that the EZbus is not connected to your computer via USB.
  • Insert the EZbus Installation CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.
  • Locate the EZbus Installer.exe file on the EZbus Installation CD. Double-click on the file to initiate the setup routine.
  • When the Install Wizard appears, click the Setup button, followed by the Next button at each of the on-screen prompts.
  • When the final screen appears, click Finish to reboot your computer before proceeding to Step 4.
  • Connect the EZbus to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and apply power to the EZbus.
  • When the "Found New Hardware" Wizard appears, click Next to have Windows automatically search for the EZbus driver.
  • In the next window, click Finish. This completes the EZbus installation.

Note: If you inadvertently connected the EZbus to your computer via USB without having first installed the EZbus software as outlined above, you will need to remove the files drvdata.bin and drvidx.bin from your operating system. The files are located in C: \ Windows \ inf. Delete the files by dragging them to your Recycle Bin, and emptying the Recycle Bin. Then carefully follow the Windows ME update instructions above.

Windows® XP
Be certain that the EZbus is not connected to your computer via USB.

  • On the EZbus, press system, followed by the next button repeatedly until the display reads: USB Configuration: Audio+MIDI+Bulk
  • Insert the EZbus Installation CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.
  • Locate the EZbus Installer.exe file on the EZbus Installation CD. Double-click
    on the file to initiate the setup routine. When the Install Wizard appears, click the setup button, followed by the next button at each of the on-screen prompts. When the final screen appears, click finish to reboot your computer before proceeding with Step 4. NOTE: If at any time you see the message "EZbus Does not Comply with Windows Logo Testing," simply click the continue installation button.
  • Connect the EZbus to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and apply power to the EZbus.
  • When the "Found New Hardware" Wizard appears, click Next to have Windows automatically search for the EZbus driver. If you are prompted to insert the EZbus CD, use the Browse button to direct the Wizard to C:\ Windows \ System32 \ Drivers.
  • In the next window, click Finish. This completes the EZbus Installation.
Windows® 98 SE / 2000
Users must set up the EZbus as detailed below before connecting the EZbus to a computer via USB.
  • Be certain that the EZbus is not connected to your computer via USB.
  • On the EZbus, press system, followed by the next button repeatedly until the display reads:

    USB Configuration: Audio+MIDI+Bulk

  • Rotate the value wheel until the EZbus display reads:

    USB Configuration: Audio Only

  • The system LED will now be blinking. Double-click on the system button; the EZbus display will read:

  • Connect the EZbus to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and apply power to the EZbus.
  • The Windows "Found New Hardware" Wizard will appear. Click next to have Windows automatically search for the EZbus driver. In the next window, click finish. This completes the EZbus installation.

Macintosh Installation Instructions
Users must set up the EZbus as detailed below before connecting the EZbus to a computer via USB.

  • Be certain that the EZbus is not connected to your computer via USB.
  • On the EZbus, press system, followed by the next button repeatedly until the display reads:

    USB Configuration: Audio+MIDI+Bulk

  • Rotate the value wheel until the EZbus display reads:

    USB Configuration: Audio Only

  • The system LED will now be blinking. Double-click on the system button; the EZbus display will read:

    Changing USB Mode!

  • Connect the EZbus to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and apply power to the EZbus. This completes the EZbus installation.
